Google Plus One Code

In this tutorial I will show you how to add the Google Plus One Button to your website, it’s going to be added to the apps folder very soon, but for now you must do it the manual way.

To get started open up you need to add the meta code to your head tags you can do that by clicking edit on the page you wish to add it to.  Once in the editor click on this icon:  this is the page properties icon.

Once it pops up, look at the bottom of the pop up where it says: Additional head tags:

and paste this code:

<script type=”text/javascript”>
(function() {
var po = document.createElement(‘script’); po.type = ‘text/javascript’; po.async = true;
po.src = ‘https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js’;
var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s);
})();
</script>

Now what you want to do is add a text box, and replace the “new” text with this:

<g:plusone annotation=”inline” width=”400″></g:plusone>

Now where ever that text box is, is where your Google plus one button will appear.

HINT: I adjust the font size so the text box is rather small, I suggest making the text font 8px.

How to add Google Analytics to your website

Your first step is to make sure you have a Gmail account, if so then all you need to do is go to Google.com/analytics .  Once you get there just sign up using your existing Google account, look for the admin button on the top right and click it.

And then click on new account to add your first website, it looks like this:

Once you click New Account, you will enter in the information for the website.  Such as a Account Title, this can be something like “Your Website”  and then it will ask you for the website URL.  With a drop down for “http://” or “https://”, if you have SSL you select the “https://” if you do not know what this is then you most likely have “http://”.  Next to that you just enter in  YourWebsite.com, the www is really not needed and you may see an example below:

Once you are done, you will be provided a tracking code as you see below:

Now do keep in mind this code is to be placed in the head of your website, when using WebPaper you just go to the editor and click the Page Properties icon with the red bar under it as you see below:

And a pop-up will appear, just paste the code you copied from the Analytics page into the bottom box that says Addition head tags:

Once your done hit ok, and then click the floppy disck icon on the top right to save.  Or you can hold CTRL and hit S to save as well :)

How to build a website

When building a website, the first thing to think of is an idea.  Most of the times you already know your idea so that should be quite easy, then you want to think of a title for your website.  Now the title can be very important so there are some great FREE tools that you can use to help you choose the right title.  Google provides some great tools like Google Insights or Google Adwords Keyword Tool, both of these tools can help you see the popularity of they keywords you might be looking into. Google Insights will show you the past popularity and future predictions of the keywords you search, along with giving you a few other related keywords. Google Adwords Keyword Tool also shows you the popularity of a keyword, along with other related keywords.  But it will also show you how dense the market is  this comes in use when you are trying to think of other ideas or names.  If your fighting against more people then your fighting an uphill battle but it can still be done.  For the easier path you want a market that is less dense so you can dominate it and then go after more markets once you have succeeded in the first one.

Now that you have your title picked out, we can move onto how to build your website.  There are many Content Management Systems (CMS) to choose from, some people who want a blog choose something like Blogger or WordPress as they are 100% Free but do keep in mind with free solutions some limitations do apply.  Now if you want full control over all your pages to drag anything anywhere and add videos to any place on your website then I would highly suggest WebPaper, they do offer a free solution with 3 pages and 2MB of storage for uploading of images and much much more.  But also if you want you can sign up and get much more access and applications to add to your website.  The great thing about WebPaper is it’s drag and drop simplicity that no one else can compare to.

Now you might want to consider Search Engine Optimization (SEO), this is how search engines will find you.  Although search engines scan the web looking for new websites all the time, it really helps if you have the right information in the right places so the search engines know just what your website is about.  This is so they list you in the type of market or results you want to be listed in, so your traffic is full of people looking for just what you offer.  Now Search Engine Optimization consists of a lot of things, but I will cover a few crucial ones now.  Keyword Density is the amount of times you use a target keyword in your content, from my understanding and past work you want to try and keep it at 8% – 10% this means for every 100 words use the keyword no more than 8 to 10 times.  If you exceed that then search engines will consider you a robot or spam and possibly sand box or black list your domain/website.  Now meta tags such as title, description and keywords are also a MUST!  and just F.Y.I. WebPaper lets you set them right as you start building your website, so it’s very easy and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Friendly.

Now do watch out because you might be saying oh I know some website builder that works to, well don’t just try any website builder.  As some build the websites in FLASH, and the bad part about FLASH is search engines don’t understand it.  Not to mention it wont work on cell phones or mobile devices, and as iPad’s and Smart Phones become more and more popular.  You will lose out on a huge and very fast growing market, so just keep that in mind.

WebPaper also offers tons of free website templates to help you get started quite fast, all you have to do is adjust the pictures with your own, and maybe add or adjust some text and your done!

Now it is up to you to share your website with friends and family, and ask them to share it with their friends and family.  Soon you will see the traffic grow as your site takes listing on Google in a few days as well.  From then on it’s just about keeping up with the posting and addition of content to your website.

Best of Luck ! and feel free to check out more blog posts on our Blog for more website building and marketing information.

WebPage Credibility

WebPage Credibility

What is a webpage? A webpage is a single web page which consists of text, image and or videos in which can but doesn’t have to be connected to multiple pages. A connection is made by a link.

Imagine a spider web, your single webpage would be in the middle of the web and the outer web would be the web pages in which were connected to that single page (by links). In a perfect internet the web only consist of inbound links related to that single webpage.

Inbound links are links in which are coming from one location to another.

To understand how the internet works think of how people’s credibility works in real life. A person in real life gives creditably by telling another person how good of a job that person did. The internet works the same way, so if a lot of people recommend you (by linking to you) you will gain search engine credibility in turn gives you higher ranking.

Things to know..
Understand that some websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace have “No Follow” links. This means that Search Engines will not give you credit from this website or any website that has a no follow attribute within their outbound links.

Paying for link credibility may not be the solution your looking for. As search engine algorithms have evolved they have gotten much smarter. This means finding cheaters, malicious results and things of the sort have been more and more of an absolute thing rather then a coin toss. It wouldn’t be in your best interest to put your self in any of those categories especially if your paying for it, right? Right. So do it the time consuming and painful way, the right way.

What is the right way?
The right way is by contacting other webmasters who are in the same field as your website is. For example, if your a hobby shop you should look for Hobby shop review websites or website in which look for new hobbies to get into for fun. Anything related (try not to go to far away from the main idea).
Second would would be to spread the word, use social media networking sites, try and stay in tune with the ones that matter. Currently as I write this (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Digg, Instagr.am) are the important ones. New social media sites tend to explode up from the dark abyss overnight; look out for them.
Third but not final method would be to get organic listings, like Social media websites search engines are popping up like pop corn. Writing blogs, making videos and being creative when it comes to getting your name out are the fundamental foundations of successful website, oh and let me also point out consistency. It WILL be slow at first, it may take six months before you start to see a shift in traffic, sales, comments or whatever your looking to get out of exposing your website.  Do NOT give up, it is a painful process but surely pays off for those who tough it out and stick to their original plan; to get found.

Building a SEO Friendly Website

When building your website, keep in mind Search Engine Optimization (SEO) helps bring viewers to your website.  Gaining rank organically through keywords, and other useful information you provide in your website content.

Website, Free, Builder, Top, Best, 2012, About, Info, Website, Online,

Now the meta description or website description also helps users find just what you have to offer.  Try to also include some keywords in the website description such as:

How to Add a Youtube Video

To add a Youtube Video

To add a Youtube video go to Youtube. Copy the embedded code which drops down after you click on share. The first one that appears is the newer embed code which you can use. But, if you use the older one you can adjust it to auto play. The older one is pretty long and if you don’t see it after clicking share simply click on the embed link and it will show up underneath embed.  Once you have copied the code move back to webpaper, click on the page you would like to add the video to. Insert a text box and paste the embed code within.

Hint: If you use the old embed code  you set your video to autoplay. With the new one you can not do that. The code to make it auto play is autoplay=1; the best place to insert it is after the & sign.
